Book Review

The Enemy
By Charlie Higson

I was looking for a zombie series that 8th graders might enjoy when I came across Higson's zombie series. The first novel, in a series of six, is The Enemy. The story starts revolves around a group of kids, 15 and/or younger, fighting to survive in the streets of London. A disease has turned people 16 and over into decomposing, brainless creatures that feed on survivors. When the story begins, we meet a group of kids living in a supermarket. A mysterious traveler arrives just as supplies are beginning to run out and offers the group a safe haven at Buckingham Palace. On the journey across London, they face many dangers. As the group settles in, they realize the fight is far from over when they discover another threat coming from within palace. I'm looking forward to reading the next novel in the series, The Dead.
